As a practitioner in the Domestic Relations Division in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Attorney Copland represents men and women in divorce cases, which includes the division of property, allocation of parental responsibilities, child support and the allocation of parenting time. She handles matters in Parentage Court, the Domestic Violence Division, Juvenile Court, in both delinquency and child protection, and serves as a court appointed Guardian ad Litem in highly contested cases involving children.
In her practice, Attorney Copland represents individuals and families in the Probate Division involving decedent’s estates, guardianship, estate administration and litigation. Lisa also represents individuals and small businesses in breach of contract cases, landlord tenant matters, and the creation and dissolution of partnership agreements.
She is a volunteer attorney with the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foreclosure Mediation Program and has provided pro bono consultations for the Cook County Bar Association Free Legal Clinic. Lisa believes “all people are entitled to equal access to justice and should be heard”. As a judge, she will ensure due process and fairness.
The only child of a Vietnam Veteran, and a retired Federal Government worker, Lisa’s family moved about the United States as she was growing up. After living in four states, she set down roots in Illinois as a law student at Northwestern. Lisa built her legal career in Chicago, Illinois, and for her and her family, Chicago is home. Lisa is married to Kenneth Gordon, they have two foster children and reside in Chatham.
